Gas and energy

Research in gas and vapour processing is focussed on: 1 – recovery of valuable compounds (e.g., aromas) from waste vapour streams using membrane processes; 2 – removal of toxic compounds such as dioxins with selective membranes modified with task specific compounds (such as ionic liquids). CO2 recovery from post-combustion streams is also a target by using integrated membrane / ionic liquids systems. Energy projects are focussed on the production of energy by Reverse Electrodialysis and development of PEM membranes for high-temperature fuel cells.
