Soil reclamation
Soil reclamation is the process of removing, reducing or neutralising industrial soil, sediment and water contaminants that threaten human health and/or ecosystem productivity and integrity. Likewise, land reclamation aims to improve the quality of the disturbed land in order to achieve land capability equivalent to the pre-disturbed condition or for a specified end land use. Research on soil and land reclamation is a highly multidisciplinary discipline, aiming to better comprehend soil functioning (geochemically and biologically) and to develop novel processes for soil pollution mitigating, favouring the use of economic and environmental sustainable techniques, such as bio-remediation and/or bio-agglutination.
