Research Interests

Development of environmentally sustainable bioprocesses for water and wastewater treatment:

  • Fundamental research on metabolism, microbiology and process engineering of biological nutrient and organic compounds removal;
  • Membrane bioreactors for drinking and wastewater treatment;
    Bioproduction of chemicals from renewable resources:
  • Production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) by mixed microbial cultures using waste organic materials: microbial characterization and process optimization.
