Microbiology of Man-Made Environments

Description

The activities of the group are essentially directed to the microbial characterization of man-made microbial environments and to the characterization of its isolates. Microbiology, microbial ecology, bacterial characterization and taxonomy are the laboratory key words. Food products, drinking water sources and microbial population of wastewater treatment biological systems are some examples of the areas of intervention of the team.

Track-Record

 Microbial characterization of food products
Effective inactivation of bacteria, viruses, filamentous fungi, and yeasts for high quality water
Characterization of mixed microbial populations in environmental processes and membrane biorectors.
Characterization and identification of microbial isolates, eg. Soil nodulating or cheese producing bacteria.
