The Proteomics Unit of iBET is hiring a post-doctoral scientist (f/m) to work in a European research project
23.01.2013
Summary Project Description: The project "Kinetics for Drug Discovery” or K4DD is part of the Innovative Medicine Initiative (IMI) sponsored by the European Union and Pharmaceutical Industry. It has the overarching aim to understand and optimize binding kinetics in drug discovery. There is mounting evidence that the often ignored kinetic aspects of the interaction between a drug and its target are highly relevant for clinical success.
Work Place: Work will take place at the Laboratory of Molecular Interactions & Biophysics of the pharmaceutical company Merck Serono in Darmstadt, Germany under the supervision of Dr. Matthias Frech (Director, MIB Laboratory). The position offers a great chance to work on modern aspects in drug discovery within a network of colleagues in industry and academia, and the results from this project are publishable.
Scientific Area: Biophysics
Admission Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Biophysics, Biochemistry or related area.
- Experience in biophysical methods for the characterization of molecular interactions;
- Experience in Protein Crystallography
- Knowledge of molecular modeling methods applied to proteins;
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English;
- Strong pro-active attitude and good communication skills;
- willingness to work in a international team
- Willingness to live in Germany during the duration of the contract.
Note: Candidates not yet holding a Ph.D. may also be considered provided they have already filed their thesis by April 1, 2013 and that they fulfill the other requirements above indicated.
