Animal Cell Technoloy Unit recent reviews in Trends in Biotechnology
One of the strategic areas of iBET is Animal Cell Technology Unit (ACTU). Research centered on biopharmaceutical process development, stem cell bioprocessing and in vitro models for pre-clinical research. The present and past issues of Trends in Biotechnology brings two reviews from the ACTU team. The first focuses on optimization of production processes for recombinant products, the second brings a discussion on state of the art human pluripotent stem cell (hPSCS) large scale-up and storage, focusing on main principles for the bioprocessing of hPSCs, highlighting the impact of environmental factors, novel 3D culturing approaches and integrated bioreactor strategies for controlling hPSC culture outcome. Together these reviews illustrate current challenges for bringing therapy from bench to bedside.
