iBET researchers of Downstream Process Development Lab participated in the 40th International Symposium on the Separation of Proteins, Peptides & Polynucleotides (ISPPP) held in Porto from 7 to 10 November 2021.

Cristina Peixoto, Head of Downstream Process Development Lab, provided a workshop on New insights in virus-based biopharmaceuticals purification, addressing main operation units, technologies, process development and quality considerations of virus purification. Virus purification is a critical step in the development of virus-based biopharmaceuticals, which are playing an increasingly important role in the different fields of vaccination, gene therapy, and cancer treatment.

Sofia Moreira presented a scientific poster and a selected oral communication entitled “Improving processes and exploiting new tools for Lentiviral vectors purification”. The oral communication provided insights in the impact of production processes and tools, for Lentiviral vector’s purification process.

Additionally, Sónia Mendes was recognized with a Flash Presentation Award for her “outstanding flash presentation” entitled “Production of high‐quality SARS‐CoV‐2 antigens: Impact of bioprocess and storage on glycosylation, biophysical attributes, and ELISA serologic tests performance.
