On last May 28th, iBET celebrated its 30th Anniversary. In a symbolic moment that was marked with the inauguration of the rebuilt “Pilot Plant Unit” now renamed Late Stage R&D and Bioproduction Unit, more than 200 personalities including distinguished guests from Portugal and abroad attended the official ceremony at the INIAV auditorium, in Oeiras.
iBET celebrates its own values in and for the service of science, society and economy and, more importantly, the value of our collaborators, partners and friends who were key to the success of iBET along the last 30 years.
The ceremony itself included speeches from iBET President, Dr Jorge de Melo, iBET CEO, Prof Paula Alves and the founder and Vice-president of iBET Prof Manuel Carrondo. The ceremony could also count with the honorable presence of, and speeches from, the President of the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), Prof Helena Pereira, also in representation of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education; the Secretary of State Assistant and of Health, Dr Francisco Ventura Ramos, in representation of the Minister of Health; and the Secretary of State of Economy, Dr João Neves.
Long-term collaborators were also publicly distinguished by the Boards of Directors with a gift as a tribute to their dedication to iBET for more than 25 years.
As said, the end of the ceremony was marked with the inauguration of the Late Stage R&D and Bioproduction Unit, representing an investment of more than 1 million euros (co-funded by FEDER in 375 k€). The new building has now 1100 m² of laboratories and office spaces divided in two floors providing support to the development of new advanced therapeutic products.
The celebrations of iBET anniversary will continue until the end of 2019 with many other events.
In the same day and aligned with the festivities iBET launched the new website and institutional video. Because “real problems need real science”.
