Ana Teresa Serra, Head of the Natural Bioactives and Nutraceuticals Area, and Pedro Reynolds Brandão, PhD student at the Food Safety & Microbiology Area, presented their work at the 1st International Conference of the Portuguese Association of Cellular Agriculture held on September 7-8th at INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, Portugal.

Pedro Brandão delivered a presentation entitled “Monitoring productivity and predicting crash of phaeodactylum tricornutum cultures using spectroscopy and machine learning”. This work was conducted as part of his doctoral studies at Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV/REQUIMTE) at FCT UNL and iBET. Pedro’s presentation explored the potential of applying the expertise gained from modernizing microalgae cultivation to the field of cellular agriculture.

Teresa Serra’s presentation “Bioengineering approaches for the development of cultured meat”, focused on highlighting iBET’s extensive expertise and knowledge that could potentially benefit cellular agriculture, and more specifically the cultivated meat industry, such as:

This conference, organized by CellAgri Portugal, aimed to share the latest achievements related to cellular agriculture products, and to foster collaborative research within the national cellular agriculture community.
