Gabriela Silva is a Senior Scientist of the Bayer Satellite Lab of the Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica, since 2014.
She holds a Master degree from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia, and obtained her PhD in Biology with the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica, Nova Lisbon University, Portugal. During her PhD, she contributed to the characterization of metalloproteins from the anaerobic bacterium Desulfovibrio gigas and understanding how this bacterium copes with oxygen. From 2002 to 2014, she worked as post-doc and scientist in the fields of inflammation and cancer (solid and hematologic malignancies).
She joined iBET in 2014, first as Senior Research. She has been involved in the support of the development of therapeutic antibodies, recombinant proteins, molecular and cell biology assays at the Bayer satellite laboratory. Worked on research projects on the development of adeno-associated viral vectors for gene therapy, the involvement of Notch ligands in breast cancer and development of antibodies targeting Notch signaling.
