Lara Silva

Lara is the Head of Operations of the Analytical Services Unit (ASU), since 2019.

She holds a Cellular and Molecular Biology degree from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and obtained her PhD in Biomedicine with the Universidade do Porto in the area of Glycobiology and Oncobiology. During her PhD, she contributed to a better characterization of the glycosylation profile of the CA125 biomarker for development of new biomarker assays in the ovarian cancer setting.

Lara joined iBET in 2016, first as Scientist in the Animal Cell Technology Unit to focus on the identification of cancer-specific biomarkers, using MS-based glycoproteomics and glycomics approaches for characterization of glycosignatures of disease versus normal-derived biological samples.

Currently, as Head of Operations of ASU, her main responsibilities are to manage the communication with clients and to schedule and supervise the personnel analytical activities to ensure all analyses are performed in a timely manner and according to the Principles of Good Laboratory Practices. Lara also co-approves the results of quality control tests performed for release of biotechnology products for Clinical tests Phase I/II.
