The main objective of the project is to promote innovation towards the development of a definitive therapeutic solution: a regenerative cell therapy that reverses the deterioration associated with MI and that can be standardized and commercialized in the short term.
To achieve this objective it is essential that all the agents of the chain (research-company) cooperate together, reinforcing their synergies, concentrating resources and creating new links based on a network model from which a medical treatment of strategic interest finally derives (for its effectiveness and cost-benefit) both for the EGTC, as for the rest of the regions of Europe and the World. The project will position the EGTC space at the head of innovation in one of the strategic sectors: the health sector. Through this project, we aim to reinforce the synergetic and network functioning of I+D+i at the transnational level in specific sectors of the euroregion based on smart specialization.
For this purpose, the following main objectives have been established:
O1. Develop therapeutic patches (v2.0) with improved cells and functionalized membranes as well as new designs of 3D-system prototypes for the patches preparation, transport and non invasive implantation into the heart, as a model of cellular regenerative therapy aimed at patients with chronic heart disease.
O2. Advancing towards the market by exploring the roadmap of commercialization of the v2.0 patch, its potential transfer to other diseases and its cost-benefit.
O3. Make visible, reinforce and give continuity to the CARDIOPATCH network so that the euroregion space is a reference in regenerative biomedical research applied to CVD.
