iBET was present at the CannX Lisbon 2020, the leading international conference on medical cannabis, held from 12 to 13 February in Lisbon, Portugal.
At this conference, iBET collaborators Naiara Hernández, Teresa Serra, Sandra Silva and Carolina Figueira exchanged knowledge and professional expertise on medical cannabis’ research, exploring the latest science, cutting-edge technology and investment opportunities in this rapidly growing field.
In 2018, the Portuguese Parliament approved new legislation regarding medical cannabis. This legal framework governs the cultivation, extraction, commercial preparation, distribution, import and export and sale of medical cannabis and derived medicinal products, preparations and substances. As a result, several companies have moved part of their activities to Portugal, thus contributing for the creation of a innovation hub in the field.
With cumulative expertise in (i) plant genomics, (ii) natural products extraction, (iii) product valorization and formulation, (iv) evaluation of bioactivity and bioavailability of natural products and (v) the development of new sustainable industrial processes, iBET’s positions itself as a strategic partner for the development of R&D projects on valorization of medical cannabis.
