Post-doc Fellowship – Bioactivity of natural extracts

Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), Oeiras, Portugal, has a open position for a research fellowship in the field of biotechnology available within the integrated project “Agenda VIIAFOOD – Plataforma para a Valorização, Industrialização e Inovação commercial para o Agroalimentar”, framed in the notice nº 02/C05-i01/2022, financed by the Program for Recovery and Resilience (PRR) through CE.

Education

Post Doctorate in Food Engineering, Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or similar

Professional Experience

• Experience in animal cell culture techniques;
• Experience in bioactivity assays (antioxidant, antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory activities) of natural compounds and extracts using chemical and cell-based assays;
• Experience in cell permeability assays;
• Experience in cell and molecular biology techniques namely Western Blotting, PCR, immunofluorescence assay and image analysis;
• Experience in chromatographic techniques, namely HPLC;
• Critical thinking, good organizational and communication skills and ability to work as part of a team;
• Proficient use of the English language.

Implementation of cell-based assays to evaluate the bioactivity of natural extracts, and characterization of the extracts regarding their chemical composition and bioactivity.

The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 September of 2024.
