Research Fellowship (MSc) – Advanced Cell Models for Drug Discovery and Translational Research / Stem and Immune Cells Bioengineering
Intro
iBET has an open position for a research fellowship in the field of Biomedical Research available within the project hematoPRO: Building a road map for Hematopoietic-Progenitor differentiation from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC): Towards novel cell tools for immunotherapy and immune competent preclinical models“ financed by internal funds
Admission Requirements
Academic degree – Master’s in Biological, Chemical or Biomedical Engineering, Biotecnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or equivalent (16/20 or higher).
We seek a motivated candidate willing to work both collaboratively but also independently. Good use of the English language (written, spoken).
We particularly value:
1) culture and differentiation of human induced pluripotent cells;
2) Hands on experience with 3D cultures/organoids; stirred tank bioreactors
3) Analyticals for cell and heterotypic culture characterization (multicolor flow cytometry; spectral cytometry; confocal microscopy; RT-qPCR; immunofluorescence).
4) Experience with software for data analysis and visualization (e.g., GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, FlowJo AIVIA)
5) Good use of the English language both written and spoken
6) Reading and interpreting scientific literature
7) Analysis, discussion, and presentation of scientific data
Work Plan
The candidate will contribute to the project with optimization of hiPSC differentiation protocols to macrophages (iMAC) and endothelial cells (iEC) and respective functional attributes. The candidate will be generating heterotypic 3D cell models by combining iMACs and iECs with tumor cells. Activities include differentitation and characterization of iMACs and iECs; establishment of heterotypic 3D models in stirred tank bioreactors; interaction with researchers from different labs and expertise at iBET.
Fellowship Duration
The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 9 of January of 2026.
