Research Fellowship (MSc) – Animal Cell Technology Unit
Intro
iBET, has an open position for a research fellowship in the field of Bioengineering available within the project “Enzyme-catalyzed conjugation combined with bioprocess intensification: building functionalized ferritin nanoparticle vaccines”, financed by national funds through FCT with financial support from FEDER
Admission Requirements
– Academic degree: Master’s in Biological Engineering, Bioengineering, or similar fields;
– Bachelor’s degree average equal to or greater than 14 (out of 20) and master’s degree average equal to or greater than 17 (out of 20);
– Experience in animal cell culture, preferably mammalian cells;
– Experience in cell culture, preferably in stirred systems (e.g., bioreactors) and in continuous and/or perfusion operation mode;
– Experience in nanoparticles production;
– Experience in purification methods (e.g. filtration);
– Experience in analytical methods, preferably RT-qPCR, PicoGreen and BCA;
– Good organizational, communication, and teamwork skills;
– Candidates with internships and/or periods abroad or in Portugal will be valued;
– Good command of English in both written and spoken communication.
Work Plan
Establish continuous processes for production and purification of nanoparticles, and their integration aiming at designing a continuous “end to end” process
Fellowship Duration
The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 9 of January of 2026.
