Research Fellowship (MSc) – Animal Cell Technology Unit
Intro
iBET, has an open position for a research fellowship in the field of Biological Engineering available within the project “Machine learning-driven CD19 CAR T cell manufacturing for improved safety and efficacy in the treatment of hematologic cancers”, Ref. 2024.14194.PEX, financed by FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia .
Admission Requirements
Master in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry and related areas, with final Master grade equal or superior to 18/20.
Experience in:
1) Mammalian or human stem cell culture techniques;
2) cell culture in bioreactor;
3) analytics for characterization of cells (flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy).
Proficient use of the English language, both spoken and written. Motivation for applied research and good teamwork skills will be valued.
Work Plan
Investigate how patient-specific factors, such as T cell phenotypic variability and patient immune status, influence outcomes of CAR T cell therapies and how they could be considered in personalized CAR T cell manufacturing processes.
Fellowship Duration
The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of February of 2026.
