Research Fellowship (MSc) – Animal Cell Technology Unit
Intro
iBET, has an open position for a research fellowship in the field of Biotechnology available within the project “URGENT – Finding the Right Route to the Lung: Unlocking pRecision Gene EditiNg Therapies for Cystic Fibrosis”, Ref. 2024.13775.PEX, financed by national funds through FCT.
Admission Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree with a grade of 16 or above.
- Minimum of Master’s degree with a grade of 17 or above.
- Minimum 1-year laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques.
- Minimum 1-year laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture.
- Laboratory experience in constructing plasmids for expression in mammalian cells.
- Laboratory experience in mammalian cell transfection.
- Laboratory experience in viral vector production (LV) and viral-like particles (VLPs) for gene therapy.
- Laboratory experience in viral transduction assays.
- Experience in flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, and qPCR techniques.
- Proficient in English.
- Motivated for research in the field of Animal Cell Biotechnology.
- Immediate availability
Work Plan
The fellow will provide technical and scientific support to the mentioned project, especially in plasmid construction, production, and titration of lentiviral vectors and virus-like particles, as well as transduction assays using cytometry, microscopy, and PCR assays (qPCR and ddPCR).
Fellowship Duration
The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of June of 2026.
