Research Fellowship (MSc) – Downstream Process Development

iBET, has two open positions for a research fellowship in the field of Biotechnology available within the project “GreenBrane: Valorizing Agro-Industrial Cellulose for Membranes in Downstream Purification Strategies” Ref. PIGB25, financed by internal funds

Pursuing an academic degree – Master’s or Doctorate in Biotechnology and/or Bioengineering

• Experience in purification and characterization of viral vectors and antibodies.
• Experience with processing cellulose-based materials.
• Experience in bioprocessing of biologics and scale-up.
• High motivation to conduct research in multidisciplinary teams.
• Good organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Good knowledge of English.

The GreenBrane project aims to valorize agro-industrial by-products and transform it into solutions for the bioprocessing of biomolecules. By applying sustainable practices, the goal of this project is to produce membranes based on cellulose extracted from agro-industrial by-products and apply them in the purification of biomolecules. The candidate will be actively involved in the scientific activities of the project and the research group. In particular, the candidate will be expected to perform the following activities:

1. Develop and optimize methods for extracting cellulose from agro-industrial by-products.
2. Apply electrospinning techniques for the production of cellulose membranes.
3. Test and characterize the membranes in biomolecule purification processes.
4. Assist in the production of technical reports and documents.

The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of April of 2025.
