Research Fellowship (MSc) – Immunogenicity of rAAV

Intro
iBET, has a open position for a research fellowship in the field of Biomedical Sciences available within the project “Immunopredict – Immune cell assays for prediction of immunogenicity of recombinant Adeno-associated virus (rAAV)”, financed by internal funds.
Admission Requirements
MSc in Biology, Biotechnology, Biological Engineering, or equivalent scientific areas. Average classification of BSc and MSc studies of at least 16 values.
Other requirements:
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in animal cell culture, namely mammalian cell lines, primary myeloid and lymphoid cells (e.g. Dendritic cells and T cells);
- Experience in the following topics will be considered a plus:
- Flow cytometry;
- Fluorescence Microscopy;
- Anlytical methods (e.g., qPCR, ELISA, Western blot);
- Molecular biology methods (e.g., enzymatic restriction, cloning);
- Relevant software for data analysis and visualization (e.g., GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, FlowJo, R Studio)
- Results-oriented, motivated, self-driven, and a team player;
- Good spoken and written English expression;
- Immediate availability.
Work Plan
The project aims to develop and implement in vitro assays using mononucleated cells from peripheral blood (myeloid and/or lymphoid lineage), to study the immunogenicity of biological therapeutic agents. We will develop in vitro assays using cells selected from peripheral blood mononucleated cells from buffy coats (e.g. T cells, monocytes), with the aim of studying the response of immune system cells to viral vectors (rAAVs) for gene therapy. Particularly, we will study the activation of monocyte-derived dendritic cells and consequent activation of T cells, after stimulation with viral vectors with different characteristics to predict their immunogenicity and understand the immunogenic response to new therapeutic modalities.
Fellowship Duration
The fellowship will have a duration of 12 months, eventually renewed until the end of the project, without prejudice to the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 15 of April of 2024.
