Research Fellowship (MSc) – Microbiology & Molecular Biology

iBET,has an open position for a research fellowship in the field of Microbiology available within the project Tec4Green, Ref. P-1064, financed by funds from IPAMEI – PRR (Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência), “Agendas/Alianças Mobilizadoras para Reindustrialização”

• Academic degree – Master in Microbiology or similar
• Experience in testing antimicrobial activities, namely antifungal and antibacterial
• Experience working with sporulated microorganisms, both in the phenotypic and genotypic aspects. – Work experience in isolation and characterization of bacteriophages
• Work experience of qPCR, cloning and transformation of E. coli, metabarcoding, and RNA-seq.
• Experience in using ImageJ, Graphpad, Geneious software and basic knowledge of R language.
• High motivation to carry out research in Microbiology
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Good knowledge of English language.

The work will be integrated in task 2 of WP 3 in which fungicide activity tests will be carried out. Therefore, the work will focus on i) continuing the growth optimization of target fungi to test fungicidal activity and ii) participating in fungicidal activity tests of strata obtained from the circular economy and bacterial cultures.

The fellowship will have a duration of 8 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of May of 2025.
