Research Fellowship (MSc) – Natural Bioactives and Nutraceuticals

iBET,has an open position for a research fellowship for MSc, available within the project ”VOOmics – OMICs approaches to reveal the anticancer properties of Virgin Olive Oil” Ref. PTDC/BAA-AGR/4732/2021, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES.

– MSc with a minimum of 16 values in the scientific areas described above

– Experience in animal cell culture techniques including 3D cell cultures

– Experience in cell-based assays with bioactive compounds and natural extracts

– Experience in Western Blotting, PCR, immunofluorescence assay and image analysis

– Critical thinking, good organizational and communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team

– Proficient use of the English language

– By the starting date of the fellowship, the fellow should be attending a non-degree academic course

1) Development of 3D cell cultures of human colorectal cancer cell lines;

2) Evaluation of the antiproliferative effect of olive oil compounds;

3) Cytotoxicity evaluation of olive oil compounds in human intestinal epithelial cells.

The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of March of 2025.
