Research Technician (BTI) – Natural Bioactives and Nutraceuticals

Intro

iBET,has a open position for a research fellowship for a Research Technician without an academic degree available within the project Agenda_VIIAFOOD – Plataforma de Valorização, Industrialização e Inovação para o Setor Agroalimentar em Portugal, financed by Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR)

Admission Requirements

  • Experience in analytical methodologies, namely Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Multidimensional Chromatography (e.g., GCxGC-MS)
  • Experience in the extraction and fractionation of contaminant compounds in food matrices.
  • Experience in data analysis and processing.
  • Experience in rapid analytical methodologies (fluorescence spectroscopy and FTIR).
  • Experience in supporting and carrying out scientific research projects.
  • Critical thinking, strong organizational and communication skills, and ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • At the start date of the fellowship, the candidate must be enrolled in a non-degree academic course.

 

Work Plan

1) Analysis of olive oil and vegetable oil samples using chromatographic methodologies coupled with mass spectrometry or other detection methods (GC-MS, GCxGC-MS, and HPLC-DAD);

2) Analysis of olive oil samples using rapid analytical methodologies (Fluorescence Spectroscopy and FTIR);

3) Identification and quantification of olive oil compounds (and by-products) by HPLC, GC-MS, and GCxGC-MS;

4) Data analysis and processing.

Fellowship Duration

The fellowship will have a duration of 6 months, eventually renewed until the end of project, without prejudice of the maximum limits foreseen by law. The expected starting date is 1 of October of 2025.
