iBET integrates the new COST action on green chemistry and sustainable processes GREENERING – Green Chemical Engineering Network towards upscaling sustainable processes (CA18224).
GREENERING is designed to promote and boost the industrial application of green chemistry and sustainable technologies developing tools for the scale-up and implementation of these emerging processes into the industry. This can only be successfully achieved through the connection of working groups in emergent areas such as:
- best use of raw materials
- use of clean solvents
- efficient use of energy
- production of minimal amount of waste
This COST action connects experts from academia, industry and technology transfer institutions from 32 European countries, providing tools and knowledge to enable higher competitiveness in the development of novel, innovative processes and technologies.
In this COST action, iBET is represented by researchers Naiara Fernández Hernández and Liliana Rodrigues, who was awarded a grant for a Short Term Scientific Mission at Croatia to work on the “Evaluation of Deep Eutectic Solvent Phytotoxicity”.
iBET participation presents as a major opportunity to leverage iBET’s competences on the development and improvement of integrated green processes (“Eco-Design”), one of iBET’s main R&D areas.
GREENERING action officially started on October 2019 and the first meeting took place from 17th to 18th February 2020, in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. For more information, visit the GREENERING COST Action website.
About COST Actions
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding organisation for research and innovation networks.
COST Actions aim to promote networking between researchers and innovators working in science and technology fields, allowing them to jointly develop ideas. COST Actions are bottom-up networks with a duration of four years that boost research, innovation and careers. Learn more here.
