Biography
I am a Senior Scientist at Stem Cell Bioengineering Lab since early 2023. In this role, I have strengthened my experience in human stem cell bioprocess development and differentiation.
My focus is on developing bioprocesses for cell therapy products with improved functionality and generating 3D cell models for preclinical applications. I apply robust analytical tools for bioprocess optimization and assessment of cell identity and potency. I am actively engaged in academic research projects and collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry, emphasizing my commitment to bridging the gap between research and real-world applications. My professional journey at iBET reflects my flexibility and diverse expertise, having worked in the Advanced Cell Models Lab, where I conducted my PhD studies on developing 3D human neural cell models for disease modelling and drug discovery, and in the Analytical Services Unit, where I gained experience in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and contributed to bioassays development.
I hold a MSc in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine from NOVA School of Science and Technology, Lisbon (2012), a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from ITQB-NOVA, New University of Lisbon, Portugal (2018) and a post-graduation in Management and Business Consulting from Lisbon School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon (2018). My past professional experience includes an entrepreneurial venture, co-founding a start-up in molecular genetics, where I assumed the role of technical director between 2019 and 2023, combining scientific innovation with effective management skills.
