Biography
I am Scientist and responsible for the protein production and purification team at Bayer Satellite Lab, where I have been working since 2022.
In this role I perform team and project management, focusing on biomanufacturing and process development (upstream and downstream) of complex biopharmaceutical products (e.g. antibodies, proteins, and viruses).
Between 2015 and 2022, I have worked at the Cell-based Vaccines Development Lab, where I developed expertise in exploring evolutionary engineering and process intensification approaches (perfusion and continuous) at bioreactor scale to improve production of vaccine candidates using insect and mammalian cells, targeting infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, and influenza. During this previous role, I have also tenured as mentor and supervisor (MSc and PhD students).
I hold a MSc in Biotecnology Técnico Lisboa, Portugal (2016) and a PhD in Molecular Biosciences from the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal (2022).
