Biography

I am an Analytical Research Associate at iBET’s Mass Spectrometry Unit, where I have been working since 2018. My research focuses on developing mass spectrometry (MS)-based analytical methods for Proteomics applications.

I completed my Chemistry studies in 2004 at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL). I got my doctoral degree in 2012, also from FCUL, using Proteomics to find new biomarkers for the prognostic and diagnostic of patients suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. My first postdoctoral work at the Instituto Nacional de Saúde Dr Ricardo Jorge focused on finding blood biomarkers for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. My second postdoctoral work, at the Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), aimed at discovering novel post-translational modifications in key C4-photosynthesis enzymes to enhance plant growth. I also actively contribute to the scientific community through teaching Proteomics in MSc and PhD programs and reviewing manuscripts for prestigious scientific journals.

CV Highlights: More than 20 scientific meetings participations, 16 scientific publications in high-impact journals such as the Plant Cell or Nature Scientific Reports. More than 300 citations with an H index =9.
