Head of Downstream Process Development lab, Coordinator of Bioproduction Unit
Short Biography
I have been the Head of the Downstream Process Development lab of iBET since 2009 and also currently coordinate the Bioproduction Unit.
I have worked at the Animal Cell Technology Unit of iBET since 1996. My PhD contributed to the establishment of several scalable purification processes for complex biopharmaceuticals, mainly viruses and virus-like particles for vaccines and gene therapy.
I have managed more than 50 research contract projects with industrial partners, some of the processes developed are now at the clinical stage. I have been an invited lecturer since 2010 in several PhD and Master Programs and have published over 75 manuscripts in peer-reviewed international journals.
I graduated in Applied Chemistry (Biotechnology Branch) from New University of Lisbon and hold a PhD in Engineering Sciences from Instituto de Tecnologia Quimica Biológica (ITQB) of New University of Lisbon.
