Maria do Rosário Bronze
Senior Scientific Advisor / Natural Bioactives & Nutraceuticals

Biography
At iBET I am a Senior Scientific Advisor at the Natural Bioactives and Nutraceuticals Area, where I have been working since the area was created.
In this role I support other scientists to participate in national and international projects, with public or private institutions.
My research areas are related with the identification and quantification of bioactive compounds present in different matrices, from food industry wastes to biological fluids, using different methodologies for sample preparation and analysis. Special interests include the use of gas and liquid chromatography associated to mass spectrometry, namely for the detection and quantification of compounds that can be related with the prevention of deseases or to flavour positive or negative organoleptic notes. Lately the use of rapid analytical tools as FTIR and fluorescence methodologies has been a subject of interest for the screening of samples.
In addition to my role at iBET, I am a Full Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, and I am a Vice-Director at the same Institution. I hold a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Lisbon University (1999).
