Biography
I am molecular biologist specialised in baculovirus expression system for the production of recombinant proteins. At the cell based vaccine development lab since 2022 my work focuses on process development for the production and purification of vaccine candidates.
I have experience in a wide range of techniques including molecular biology, bacteriology, virology, cell culture, protein purification and microscopy.
I hold a degree in Health Sciences from the University of Lisbon (2011), a MSc in Medical Microbiology from the New University of Lisbon (2014) and a PhD in Molecular biology from Oxford Brookes University (2019).
From 2019-2021, I was a Scientist at Oxford Expression Technologies working on production of recombinant proteins using the baculovirus expression system. Currently as part of the cell-based vaccine development lab, my work focuses on developing scalable and GMP-compatible upstream and downstream processes for production of recombinant proteins and VLPs, as vaccine candidates against neglected diseases (e.g. Polio) or as therapeutics (e.g. against snakebites).
In this role I also have the opportunity to manage collaboration projects with national and international entities and to supervise MSc students.
