Short Biography
I am a Senior Scientist at Bayer Pharma satellite lab, part of the Animal Cell Technology Unit of IBET, where I have been working since 2018. Currently, I coordinate the Antibody Lead Discovery Team, aiming to discover new antibodies against several disease related targets to be used as therapeutics.
I graduated in Biological Engineering (BSc and MSc) at Instituto Superior Técnico – Universidade de Lisboa and I hold a PhD in Medical Sciences (Parasitology) from Université Sorbonne Paris Cité at Paris. My doctoral thesis focused on the molecular mechanisms involved in severe malaria pathogenesis, as well as the protein interactions involved in the sequestration of parasitized erythrocytes in the brain.
In addition, I participated in INOV Contact Program and had the opportunity to do an internship at a Biopharmaceutical industry, Elan Pharmaceuticals, in San Francisco.
