iBET has strong competences in 3D protein structure determination and biomolecular interactions studies. These studies have a wide range of applications ranging from fundamental research to pharma industry projects
We offer structural biology and molecular interactions studies, using X-Ray Crystallography, NMR Spectroscopy and cutting edge biophysical methods.
Structural Biology
X-Ray Crystallography services are available, starting from automated initial crystallization and crystal optimization, in-house X-ray source for data collection and processing, and access to industrial synchrotron beamlines. Structure determination and refinement for small molecules:protein target and antigen:Fab complexes is readily available after data collection.
If small target proteins fail to crystallize, structural NMR can be used with access to a wide range of spectrometers located at CERMAX (Centro de Ressonância Magnética António Xavier). NMR Spectroscopy can also be used for drug screening and hit optimization, mapping of protein-ligand interactions during drug discovery process, structure-activity relationships and studies of protein-protein complexes.
Molecular interactions
Molecular interaction studies are performed using a combination of cutting edge biophysical methods such as Surface Plasmon Resonance, Bio-Layer Interferometry, HDX-Mass Spectrometry, Differential Scanning Fluorimetry and Dynamic Light Scattering.
Extensive experience in molecular modelling of protein structures, protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions are available through collaborations with ITQB NOVA research groups, with access to in-house state-of-the-art computing facilities.
