iBET Latest Advancements in Cell & Gene Therapy Production at BioProcess International Asia

Integrating Continuous Operations for Cell and Gene Therapy Enhancement

iBET’s Vice President for Business Development, Manuel Carrondo, recently participated in the BioProcess International (BPI) Asia Summit 2024, held in Kyoto, Japan, from October 21-23.

Prof Manuel Carrondo’s presentation entitled “Integrating Continuous Operations for Cell and Gene Therapy Enhancement” discussed biomanufacturing challenges for these therapies and how new technologies and tools are being developed to monitor upstream and downstream operations. These advancements aim to improve product quality and bioprocesses productivity, while reducing production costs.

In his presentation, Prof Carrondo also highlighted iBET’s pioneering efforts in continuous bioprocessing, tracing back to the institute’s first perfusion production for retroviruses in the late 1990s.

BPI Asia 2024 brought together over 200 experts to discuss innovations in biomanufacturing for biologics and emerging therapeutic modalities, with a focus on optimizing and accelerating production.
