Strengthening Ties with Key Stakeholders in the National Agri-Food Sector

On September 30th, iBET’s Sustainability for Food & Health Division participated in the 9th Congress of the Portuguese Agri-food Industry, held at the Lisbon Congress Centre.

Organized by the Federation of Portuguese Agri-Food Industries (FIPA), the event gathered key representatives from the agri-food sector to discuss critical industry topics, such as global market trends, fiscal competitiveness, growth, and digital transformation.

iBET’s principal investigators, Teresa Serra, Teresa Crespo, and Rosário Bronze, attended the event to present iBET’s expertise and explore how we can support and advance R&D efforts in the agri-food sector.

Our R&D in Sustainability for Food & Health focuses on:

  • Natural Bioactives & Nutraceuticals: Valorizing bioactives present in food, natural matrices, and industrial by-products to promote a healthier and more sustainable future, from extraction to evaluation of health-promoting effects.
  • Microbiology & Molecular Biology: Combining microbiology and molecular biology expertise to address current safety, quality, and sustainability challenges in the food industry and ensure future biopharma applications.
  • Technological Platform: Scientific support unit dedicated to developing sustainable technologies for the development of natural functional ingredients recovered from diverse natural sources.

iBET’s participation highlights our ongoing commitment to advance and transfer knowledge, as well as technological capabilities, to support R&D in the national agri-food industry.

The congress concluded with an engaging debate session on how to capacitate the agri-food industry for a future of growth and sustainability, followed by a networking cocktail.
