iBET at National Water & Innovation Event in Lisbon
8th Edition of "O Caminho da Inovação - Expo & Networking" by Águas do Tejo Atlântico
iBET scientists João Sério, Carolina Santos and Nicole Ferreira recently participated in the 8th edition of the “O Caminho da Inovação – Expo & Networking 2024” event, held at Fábrica da Água in Lisbon, on October 3rd.
During the event, João Sério and Carolina Santos presented their latest research on the inactivation mechanisms of ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV-LEDs), highlighting how these disinfection systems can effectively inactivate microorganisms in water systems.
This work was conducted as part of the LEDEFFECT project, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (PTDC/EAM-AMB/1561/2021), and stems from a collaborative effort between iBET, ITQB-NOVA and FCT-NOVA.
The project aims to deepen the understanding on fundamental disinfection mechanisms, a critical step to ensure water purification in the coming decades.
Organized by Águas do Tejo Atlântico, the annual meeting aims to foster discussion, knowledge-sharing, and innovation within the water sector, bringing together key industry stakeholders, as well as communities, universities, and municipalities.
