iBET attended the kick-off meeting of BRAVƎ project held in Madrid
iBET researchers Paula Alves, Margarida Serra and Inês Isidro were present at BRAVƎ project kick-off meeting held in Madrid on January 27th-29th.
BRAVƎ is an international project in regenerative medicine aiming at restoring cardiac functionality. Coordinated by Clinica Universidad de Navarra and funded with a total of €8M by European Union programme H2020, this multidisciplinary project gathers 13 institutions that will work together for the next 5 years to develop advanced biological and personalized ventricular assist devices (BioVAD).
iBET’s role is the production and multidimensional characterization of functional cardiomyocytes derived from human pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC) for clinical use, and the coordination of activities related to the production and maturation of BioVADs, whose safety and efficiency will be subsequently assessed in animal models.
This meeting marked the beginning of BRAVƎ and served as an opportunity to strengthen the connection between partners and to establish common goals to ensure project’s success from the start.
