Paula Alves joined NOVA Science and Innovation Day
NOVA University hosted the NOVA Science and Innovation Day on November 21st, at the Rectorate building, in Lisbon.

Opened by Rector João Sàágua, the event aimed to celebrate the excellence of research and innovation of NOVA University. It brought together scientists who secured most funding or published the most impactful papers in 2023, as well as representatives from the NOVA innovation ecosystem who excelled in transferring knowledge to society. The program also featured the launch of a new interdisciplinary research community focused on Sustainable Energy Systems and an Innovation Fair.

Paula Alves, iBET’s CEO, participated in the Innovation Track roundtable dedicated to “Knowledge-based and high-impact innovation ecosystem”, moderated by Diogo Gomes Araújo (ANI). Paula shared her experiences leading iBET, an international success case that has grown in close partnership with NOVA University, particularly ITQB NOVA. iBET has been dedicated to generating and transferring knowledge to meet the biopharma and biotech industry’s needs.
Other participants present in the debate included Carlos Silva (CoLAB Almascience), Nuno Prego Ramos (CellmAbs), Ana Casaca (Galp) and Hugo Gamboa (Madan Parque) who all contributed for an engaging discussion around innovation challenges in Portugal and the best strategies to transfer value to society.
