About ESACT Frontiers
ESACT Frontiers Program (EFP) is an initiative within the European Society for Animal Cell Technology (ESACT) focused on promoting career progression and active engagement of young generations to ESACT and to the field of Animal Cell Technology (ACT). Its mission is to facilitate the cooperation and knowledge exchange among young scientists of the ACT community and to provide an easy-to-access platform to connect young researchers with ESACT senior members.About ESACT Frontiers Retreat
The first ESACT Frontiers Retreat took place in October 20th – 22nd 2016 in Lyon, France. Aligned with ESACT Frontiers mission, this meeting was dedicated to early career scientists working in animal cell culture and it was conceived to balance high-quality scientific sessions with dynamic workshops on personal skills and career development. The Scientific Sessions included three Oral Presentation Sessions, featuring a combination of early career scientists and high profile keynote speakers, and two Poster Presentation Sessions. Apart from the Scientific Sessions, participants were engaged into an active networking workshop to nurture new connections and contacts and to develop innovative ideas (Think Tank Workshop). In addition, the Collaboration Workshop helped participants to identify and improve important soft skills to engage into a collaborative (rather than competitive) mindset. The retreat was closed with the Career Options Workshop where three senior ESACT members shared their experiences on their different career paths from academia to industry to start-up.
