Biography
I am an Analytical Research Associate at the Mass Spectrometry Unit (UniMS), integrated in the Analytical Services Unit of iBET’s Health & Pharma Division, where I have been working since 2016. I specialize in implementing and developing mass spectrometry (MS)-based methods using hyphenated techniques, particularly Liquid chromatography (LC).
My work at iBET has contributed to the successful implementation of LC-MS-based methods for Metabolomics analysis, as well as capillary electrophoresis (CE) methods for intact protein characterization.
I completed my MSc in Medical Biochemistry in 2010 at Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal. In 2016, I integrated the Biomolecular MS and Proteomics group (Heck lab) and earned my PhD in Drug innovation from the Utrecht University, the Netherlands. During that time, I served as a Teaching Assistant and MSc internship co-supervisor. Next, I conducted post-doctoral research at the QOPNA Mass Spectrometry Centre at Universidade de Aveiro (2016).
I’ve been developing my LC-MS proficiency since 2011, initially in the field of proteomics. Over time, I have honed my skills in targeted and untargeted metabolomics applications, covering different aspects from sample preparation to data analysis. Additionally, I actively contribute to the scientific community through teaching in PhD advanced courses and MSc curricular units, as well as reviewing manuscripts for scientific journals.
CV Highlights: 14 scientific meeting participations (including 7 oral communications), 13 scientific publications in journals such as Mollecular and Cellular Proteomics, MDPI-Virus and Nature-Scientific Reports. More than 220 citations with an h-index=8.
