Biography
I am an Analytical Research Associate in the Analytical Services Unit at iBET, where I have been working since September 2023. I am involved in the development and qualification of methods applied to the analysis of biopharmaceutical products for Phase I/II clinical trials.
During my routine work in quality control activities, I ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines, namely: fully record of product analysis, second operator revision of analytical work, data management including writing and revision of procedures, study plans and reports.
I hold a Bachelor in Biology – Molecular Biology and Genetics with Minor in Biochemistry (FCUL, 2009), a MSc in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine (FCT-NOVA, 2011), and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS-UP, 2017). My PhD project focused on the molecular mechanisms of peroxisomal biogenesis, specifically, in understanding how newly synthesized peroxisomal matrix proteins are translocated across the peroxisomal membrane. After finishing the PhD, I worked in a consortium that provides expertise and services related to genetically modified organisms to be used in biomedical research. Later, I worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher studying the function of induced-senescent cells in spinal cord regeneration. After that, I worked at a platform where I was involved in molecular cloning and production of viral vectors.
Over the past years of research in the biomedical sciences field, I acquired extensive experience in molecular and cell biology and biochemistry techniques.
CV highlights: 10 publications with over 230 citations in peer-reviewed journals (h-index 8), Pfizer award for basic research (2021), FCT PhD fellowship (2012).
