Biography
I am Scientist at Natural Bioactives and Nutraceuticals area , where I have been working since 2010. My research areas are focused on clean technologies, namely extraction, downstream purification, and formulation of bioactive compounds from natural sources for application in the nutraceutical and food industry, with a main emphasis on natural pigments.
Special interests include waste management (circular economy) and functional food. I also have expertise in high pressure, chromatographic separation and microencapsulation technologies, in vitro bioactivity assays and statistical methods, especially experimental design.
I hold a MSc in Food Safety and Technology from Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Universidade NOVA, Lisbon, Portugal (2015) and a PhD in Sustainable Chemistry from Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier, Universidade NOVA, Lisbon, Portugal (2024).
