Biography
I am Senior Scientist at Bayer Pharma Lab, where I have been working since 2018. In my current role, I’ve added expertise on biochemical and cell-based assay development and implementation for target validation and screening of chemical and biological drug candidates.
I am also coordinating research projects focused on exploring new therapies to target macrophage-induced inflammation and fibrosis in cardiac diseases.
I hold a MSc in Biological Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa (2013) and a PhD in Bioengineering from ITQB-NOVA, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2018). During my PhD, already at iBET, I gained expertise on stem cell bioengineering with the aim to develop and understand complex cell-based cardiac in vitro models for pre-clinical research.
