Joana Moura

Scientist / Late-Stage R&D and Bioproduction Unit

Short biography

I am a Scientist at the late-Stage R&D and Bioproduction Unit, where I have been working since April 2024 in upstream and downstream bioprocesses.

I hold an MSc in Biological Engineering from Tecnico University, Lisbon (2016) and a PhD in the in vitro models fields from Swansea University, UK in partnership with Unilever (2022). In this role, I gained expertise in 2D/3D cell culture, development of microphysiological systems and biomaterials. I also have expertise in fast prototyping techniques (CNC, laser cut, 3d printing) and flow simulations.

My past professional experiences include a role of R&D Engineering in Biosurfit (2022-2024). In this role I was responsible for developing Point of Care devices for diagnoses using centrifugal microfluidic technique.
