Biography
I am a Scientist at the Cell-based Vaccines Development Lab, where I have been working since 2015.
My research is focused on developing bioprocess engineering approaches for improved production of vaccine candidates targeting infectious diseases (e.g. influenza, malaria) and gene therapy vectors (e.g. recombinant AAVs), with emphasis on adaptive laboratory evolution approaches and process intensification strategies such as perfusion and continuous operation modes. In this role I have leveraged my experience in project management (through collaboration with national and international entities), mentoring and supervision (MSc and PhD students), technology transfer (to GMP setting), and teaching.
I hold an MSc in Biological Engineering from Técnico Lisboa, Portugal (2014) and a PhD in Bioengineering within the MIT Portugal Doctoral Program from the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal (2022).
