Biography
I am a Principal Scientist at Novartis Pharma Lab, where I have been working since 2017. During these years I have contributed to Novartis’s R&D pipeline, working and managing projects that aim to develop protein-based therapeutics.
I have built up experience in protein upstream & downstream bioprocessing and expertise in a diverse array of bioanalytical methods.
I hold a PhD in Microbial biochemistry from Nova University Lisbon, Portugal (2009), a Post-graduation in General management by Católica-Lisbon School of Business & Economics, Portugal (2014) and a Project management certification (2019).
My past professional experience includes a role as post-doctoral researcher in the field of bacterial heme biosynthesis (ITQB-NOVA, Portugal and Kent University, Canterbury, UK) and in site-selective protein modification (iMM, Portugal and University of Southampton, UK) and I was also a principal investigator of an FCT-funded project (ITQB-NOVA, Portugal) (2010-2017).
