EATRIS – European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine

Supporting the advancement of knowledge and technology in translational research and drug development

EATRIS is an European research consortium with a focus in five major areas: ATMP, Small Molecules, Vaccines, Biomarkers and Imaging & tracing.

The EATRIS infrastructure brings together resources and services for research communities to translate scientific discoveries into benefits for patients. EATRIS is what is known as an ‘ERIC’, which is a non-profit European Research Infrastructure Consortium. This specific legal form is designed to facilitate the joint establishment and operation of research infrastructures of European interest.

EATRIS provides access to a vast array of pre-clinical and clinical expertise and facilities that are available from over 150 top-tier academic centres across Europe. It focuses on improving and optimising preclinical and early clinical development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. Within the infrastructure, iBET is part of the ATMP and Vaccines, Inflammation and Immune Monitoring platforms.

Portugal’s participation in EATRIS facilitates the integration of national hospitals and research institutes in joint projects and grant applications.
