iBET Move supports Batoto Yetu association

iBETMove, our employee sports and wellbeing initiative, has donated €1,350 to Batoto Yetu Portugal, a youth and cultural association based in Caxias, Oeiras. 

On April 28, Fernanda Spínola (Lab manager and iBET Move coordinator), Tânia Correia Costa (Head of People and Culture) and Sara Rebelo (Human Resources / People and Culture Technician) were welcomed by the association’s coordinator, Ricardo Veríssimo, who introduced them to Batoto Yetu’s ongoing projects and mission:  

“To contribute to the social integration of children and young people of African origin or descent, who may come from underprivileged backgrounds, by valuing their cultural roots and promoting educational, artistic and cultural activities.”

Batoto Yetu Portugal carries out work across several areas:  

• Provides support to immigrant communities through a dedicated support office, offering free assistance with legal documentation wareness initiatives on rights and duties, and inclusive community activities.  
• Supports children and young people at risk for academic failure through vocational guidance and after-school activities such as dance, music and sports.
• Promotes african culture through dance, music, sculpture and fashion workshops. 

This donation results from iBET Move sports activities, which are partially sponsored by iBET, with the remaining contribution made by participating employees. Each year, the funds raised are donated to a local social solidarity organization. Also included in the donation is the value raised through the payment from weekly wellbeing massages offered to employees.
