iBET hosts TEC4GREEN 1st in-person scientific meeting
Preparing the Agro-industrial Sector for Future Technological & Environmental Challenges
On march 19th, iBET hosted the first in-person scientific meeting of the TEC4GREEN consortium.
A mobilizing agenda, funded under the umbrella of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, that seeks to transform the agro-industrial sector towards a more sustainable future. This was the first opportunity for partner institutions to meet in-person, establish shared goals and define upcoming actionable steps.
The TEC4GREEN project entails:
- Developing next-generation hybrid & biological products to protect and nourish agricultural crops.
- Promoting the use of digital farming technologies for precision agriculture and agronomic decarbonization.
- Transforming water streams and agricultural by-products into green energy solutions and a thriving circular economy.
iBET is one of the 18 partners of the consortium, led by Ascenza Agro, which includes several academic institutes and universities, as well as industrial and technological partners.
iBET’s contribution to the consortium, coordinated by Teresa Crespo (Head of the Microbiology for Sustainability Lab), centers on leveraging the institute’s expertise in microbiology and biotechnology for agricultural/food applications. More specifically, in soil metabolization, plant stimulation, and in the extraction and formulation of bioactive compounds.
With a total investment of over 49 million euros, TEC4GREEN is set to conclude at the end of 2025.
